Otherworld 2010: Science!

June 18-20 (Shawnigan Lake BC)

PROBLEM
Your assistance is needed with The Otherworld Experiment!

HYPOTHESIS
To gain your active participation in the Otherworld Experiment and perform an experiment in temporary community, we will need to harness the powers of Science!

METHOD

  1. Purchase your Otherworld Ticket at http://burnvic.ca/drupal6/otherworld2010/register .
  2. Create a science-related theme camp, art piece, or performance (or something totally different!). Register your project on the BurnVic website!
  3. Engage in the experiment by coming to the event (location to be announced directly to ticket holders). Collect your data from June 18-20. And present your findings on Sunday, June 20 at the Otherworld Science Fair in center camp!

OBSERVATIONS
Eureka! Merlin discovered the philosopher’s stone and turned lead to gold. Dr. Frankenstein’s groundbreaking application of electricity to dead tissue created life! Isaac Newton was hit on the head by an apple and discovered gravity (Eve was hit by an apple too). Was Madam Curie the mother of radiation theory – or Godzilla? Captain Nemo explored 20,000 leagues under the sea while his contemporaries powered machines with clockwork and steam. James Kirk boldly went (but don’t wear a red shirt). Is Bacon the cure to cancer – or the person who invented the scientific method? String theory may prove that the Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe!

How do we know? SCIENCE!

CONCLUSION
The theme of Otherworld 2010 is…. SCIENCE!

Side effects of attending Otherworld may include; spiritual haemorrhaging, upset chakras, decreased root chakra activity, smelly belly-button lint, multi-dimensional alien abductions, cannibalism, scientific madness (or is it mad engineering?), itchy brain, projectile loss of teeth, unravelling intestines, thetan invasions, may cause involuntary creation of socially unpopular dance memes, engorgement of sexual organs to freakish sizes, mutant powers, loss of mutant powers, irrational belief in bat boy, complete and total systemic neurological failure, a desire to spend two weeks in the desert without a shower, do not drive or operate machinery while third eye is activated. Do not taunt happy fun ball. Correlation is not causation. There is a direct correlation between the rise in global temperatures and the fall of global pirate population. Please subvert the dominant paradigm. Wear appropriate safety equipment. Batteries not included. These ingredients may have been tested on bunnies. Do not try this at home (Do it at Otherworld instead). The large print giveth, the fine print taketh away. Test results may vary. May cause sensitivity to unobtanium.
