Art

We challenge you to create something that will inspire, engage, question, puzzle, amuse, seduce and otherwise influence everyone at Otherworld! Interactive art is our particular obsession. Interactive work convenes society around itself. It generates roles. It provokes actions. It transforms participants into active contributors to a creative process.

We want to help you bring your art to Otherworld. Apply for a pARTicipation Grant!

Here's what you need to do if you want to bring art to Otherworld:

Communication
After you develop a concept, email Bunny and Lori with the deets. We need as much information as you can possibly give us, including a description and diagrams of your piece. We will be including a description of your art in the event wiki, so think of it as your invitation to the community to come check you (er, it) out!

Responsibility
Artwork must be sufficiently illuminated at night, including rebar, guy wires and any other part of the installation that somebody could crash into. Please note that there will not be any electrical power available for you unless you bring it. Viable lighting solutions include LEDs, blinky lights, glow sticks (these would need to be replenished as necessary), reflective tape and the like. Note that it's a darn good idea to use something that cannot be stolen or removed.

Artwork must be sufficiently secured against high winds and intense weather conditions that could arise. If there are guy wires that are necessary to the construction they must be flagged.

Interactive art is super fun and highly encouraged! Please ensure your interactive artwork doesn’t pose any giant threats to those want to climb on, crawl into, or play with it.

Cleanup Accountability - To Burn Or Not To Burn
Remember that Leave No Trace applies to your artwork at well! Everything you bring to live, create and burn MUST BE REMOVED. Your art piece, including anything that could be broken off of it, added to it, or blown off it, must be cleaned up and carted out – this is your responsibility. It is also your choice whether or not to include your artwork in the Burn at the height of the weekend! If you burn it, though, please remember that any components that don’t burn (nails, glass, etc) will need to be cleaned up out of the burn area before you leave.
